Jimmy Gambino: How Plastic Wrap Turned a Gambler Into the Torso
A gambling addiction led him straight into the hands of a ruthless mobster, sealing a fate worse than death. Sliced to pieces and wrapped in heavy plastic, his spirit was destined to crawl in eternal agony. Click the link to uncover the bloody secrets of the Black Zodiac's second ghost.
The heavy thud of a boxer hitting the canvas echoed through the smoky, dimly lit betting parlor. For most men in the room, that sound meant a lost wager or a ruined weekend. But for one man, the sudden roar of the crowd and the smell of stale beer and cheap cigars was the exact moment his life ended.
The movie Thirteen Ghosts terrified audiences with its shifting glass mansion and the twelve tortured spirits locked inside. The Black Zodiac was a machine designed by the devil and powered by the dead, but the cinematic lore barely scratched the surface of the real, gruesome history behind these spirits. The second ghost of this dark ritual is a horrifying, legless apparition wrapped tightly in cellophane. To the occult, he is known as The Torso. But before his spirit was bound in glass and Latin spells, he was a man named Jimmy Gambino.

The Son of a Bookie
Jimmy Gambino was born into a world of wagers and debts. As the son of a bookie, he was completely obsessed with gambling from the time he could walk. While other children went to school, Jimmy spent his days loitering at the horse racing tracks, breathing in the scent of damp earth, sweat, and desperation. His nights were spent placing bets in seedy underground bars, where the only light came from low-hanging bulbs and the only currency that mattered was cold, hard cash. Betting was not just a hobby for Jimmy. It was his life and his death.
Eventually, Jimmy opened a booking business of his own. He thought he could beat the system, but he constantly struggled with mounting debt due to his own severe compulsive gambling habits. He could not stop. His addiction was a sickness that kept his pockets empty and his mind always searching for the next big score. To compensate for his staggering losses, Jimmy developed a very dangerous reputation in the underworld. He became known as the man who never refused a bet. It was a badge of honor in the gambling dens, but in the criminal underworld, an inability to say "no" is a death sentence.

A Dangerous Wager
That reckless reputation quickly caught the attention of a ruthless mobster named Larry Vitello. Also known to the criminal elite as Larry the Finger, this made man saw an opportunity to exploit Jimmy's compulsive nature. Larry approached Jimmy with a massive, life-altering wager on a heavy underdog in an upcoming high-stakes heavyweight boxing match. The air in the room grew cold as the mobster laid down his terms.
Jimmy knew the risk. He knew he barely covered his own payoffs as it was. But he was utterly incapable of turning down the wager. To save face and uphold his dangerous reputation, he shook hands with Larry Vitello, effectively sealing his own grim fate. The tension leading up to the fight was suffocating. When the night of the match finally arrived, Jimmy watched the ring with his heart pounding against his ribs. As his fighter took a deciding blow and collapsed to the mat, the reality of the situation crashed down on Jimmy. He had absolutely no way to pay the dangerous mobster back. The terror was so absolute that Jimmy fainted dead away on the floor.

Wrapped in Plastic
When Jimmy finally came to, the nightmare was already waiting for him. Larry the Finger had arrived to collect his winnings, but Jimmy was completely cleaned out. The mobster was not a man who forgave debts. To send a chilling message to anyone else who might cross him, Larry made an example out of Jimmy. Actually, he made several small examples.
Vatilo and his ruthless gang brutally murdered the bookie. The metallic shing of a meat cleaver filled the air as they chopped his body into little pieces. They wrapped his mutilated remains in heavy cellophane, binding the plastic tight enough to suffocate a living man, and threw the bloody parcels into the dark, freezing ocean. They thought the salt water would wash away their sins, but Jimmy's agony was far from over.

The Agony of the Black Zodiac
Instead of finding peace in the watery depths, Jimmy's bound spirit remained tied to the earth. Decades later, the wealthy ghost hunter Cyrus Kriticos captured his fractured soul to become the second ghost of the dark ritual. Jimmy was transported to the glowing glass basement of Basileus's machine.
As a ghost, Jimmy Gambino is a terrifying sight. He is a legless torso wrapped tightly in clear plastic. He crawls desperately on his hands, dragging his severed, cellophane-wrapped head just inches in front of his body. His face is forever frozen in a state of torment, screaming in agony as he searches for a wholeness he will never find. He was kept locked in his containment cube, suffering in spectral blue light, until the shifting walls of the mansion finally shattered and freed him to cross over into the afterlife.
The world of Thirteen Ghosts hides a disturbing reality they never fully put on the screen. The ghosts are not just monsters; they are monuments to human cruelty. When a man's compulsions lead him to the slaughterhouse, you have to ask yourself one question. Does the true curse lie in the ghost's eternal torment, or in the addiction that put him there in the first place?
